Fresh stuff, best-of-the-web for midlife women Great writing by women you'd like to have a drink with. Caring for the brain injuredUMass Journalism student Zach Gauvin has a tale to tell. He was injured in a car accident a few years ago, and lay in a coma for several weeks before beginning his long rehabilitation. He's now back in the classroom (mine!) and he's developed a blog and Facebook pages that offer advice and resources for those caring for brain injured patients. He's also writing a book about his experience, called Miracle Kid. You can join the Miracle Kid group on Facebook; his Facebook page, Brain Injury Support Group has more than 100 members, who all share experiences and resources. (You can find links to these pages on the fiftyshift.com Facebook page.) And his blog offers firsthand experience of what it's like to try to recover from a brain injury. It's great reading for anyone who is going through this journey. Please take a look and pass this resource along to a friend who might need this kind of help. --B.J. Roche |
