Fresh stuff, best-of-the-web for midlife women Great writing by women you'd like to have a drink with. Madmania: When you can't get enough Don Draper, even though he's starting to remind you of a pig you dated in college
I love you, Don, but I'm not 'in love' with you. It's not you, it's me. I'll call you. You didn't think this was a monogamous relationship did you? To our friends: we were lying when we said we couldn't come in for tea after the movie last night because we had to get to work in the morning. Really, we had to get home to watch You Know What. And we didn't want you to think we were the kind of people who had to rush home to watch a tv show. But we are.
And if you're like us, you probably also like reading about this particular tv show because there's so much fun stuff out there written about it these days. Here's a sampling of stuff we like. If you missed Terry Gross's interview with Matthew Weiner, listen to it here. It's about 30 minutes, but definitely an interesting chat for Mad Men fans. In the interview, Weiner talks about his characters, how they surprise even him, and where they're heading as the show moves into the shank of the sixties. Almost as fun as watching this fourth season of Mad Men is reading the analysis online. And the comments! How different life would have been if they'd been in existence during, say, the first season of The Flintstones. Particularly fun is Gawker's Brian Moylan's Monday morning recap. Also, check out Meredith O'Brien's Notes from the Asylum. And here's NatashaVargas-Cooper's very well-researched and nicely written Mad Men Unbuttoned, which has also been spun off into a book.
Or Mad Men yourself? We all looked better back then, right? --B.J. Roche
